Tailoring in Asia has become dominated by brokers. This is a superior business model to traditional tailoring.
The store is a sales funnel. Most of the business overhead is focused on customer acquisition. Home sewers are ubiquitous in many Asian countries as are small workshops. The cost of sewing services of a home sewer for a local national are very low. They become even lower once there is ongoing volume. The production cost becomes an insignificant part of the overhead cost. There is no patternmaking process as measurements go straight onto the fabric. The front end broker rarely has capacity issues.
